Why i left you

we talk all night
but nothing got fixed
good job we don't have kids
I pack my things
and you stop talking
and I remember it was pouring rain outside
you know this never really ever felt like my home
some good thing went on here
but now I don't feel like this is my home here
I close the lid on my suitcase
when i did that
i felt like i disappeared
it felt so strange
to see the garden
even in the rain
you stood there with a beer in hand
i said it with my eyes goodbye
i left the key on the table
and i almost cry
open the door and put the case in the boots of my car
i got in and began to drive
so slow went down the drive and began to drive away
and in my rear view mirror
i could hear you calling my name
and i saw you drop to your knees
and beg me to come back again
oh no i can't go back no way
nothing you did wrong
it was me in the end
i just had to leave
couldn't you see that last night
you were trying to finger it out
why i left you
if you cant work it out
then it's right i leave you
and as i drove
the tears were coming down my face
but this is for the best
thank you for the days
and the sunshine smile
but you never understood
why i left you
no you never understood
why i left you

this felt powerful and real.
this felt powerful and real. and I liked the use of all lower case and no punctuation, it worked well for the poem. One little nit to pick though, this did seem to mix up the tenses a bit, and I wasn't sure if that was intentional or not.
