H for Horse

In a small square field with fences all wood brown,
Two shire horses grin and frown,
One likes to run and gallop all day,
The other complains about the taste of the hay,
"It's always too hard, It's always too soft,"
"The pigeons make too much noise in the loft,"
"Lindsay lower your voice, do not shout,"
"The sun always shines too much when it's out,"
He was the older more annoying horse,
She was the younger more carefree of course,
And to his negative remarks she would say,
"Be happy the weather is fine today,"
"I shall raise my voice and so shall the birds,"
"And we shall use the loudest of words,"
"Do not grumble about the state of your food,"
"Be glad that you get some it's really quite rude,"
And after this she would go for a walk,
To leave him alone to think over her talk,
In a small square field with fences all wood brown,
Two shire horses grin and frown,
One is wearing a triumphant smile,
And the other has decided to shut up for a while.
