Degree, 360

It turned out to be a 360 degree day.
Beat up vending machines, old chairs, green walls, dried out coffee
cups all over the place, but wait???oddly, a fish tank sits in the
corner of the room.
I am sitting in the local Police Station waiting to see a Detective
about a domestic situation. My brother has committed a crime and I am
going to report it. It is a tough decision, but the right one. I need
information and have no choice but to wait. . So dreary is this room,
with the school style clock on the wall, just screaming slow passing
time at you.
The fish are the only source of peacefulness. A soothing sight to calm
the guests of this place? Is this the purpose of the fish, or does
somebody just like fish, I wonder. Upstairs where the holding cells are
and the interrogations take place, I doubt any swimmy fish up
there.
This is a sad looking place this is, with sad looking people. Except
for the good looking young rookies, (Much too young for me) there is
not much more about this place to admire.
The first half of this day is doom and gloom for me, not exactly what I
am accustomed to. Being as I am, I will attempt to salvage some joy
into this day, not an easy task.
Job done, I will now mentally "White Out" this morning.
I need a drastic change in scenery, perhaps a walk will surfice. As I
stroll along Smith Street, newly developed, I stumble onto the
Treasure. Literally, that is the name of an Antique Shop/Caf?, and
since I need a place to hide, I go in.
And a Treasure it is, dark, musty, seeing items which brings me back to
the 50's, 60's and 70's, yes it reminds me of how old I really am. To
the rear of this shop is the backyard, which has been turned into a
caf?'. It looks like the front yard of Fred Sanfords house. Junk all
over the place, nice junk, an old big bathtub turned coffee table.
Sunoco signs hanging on the cement sidewall. I am sitting under a shade
tree on a wroth iron chair at a small mosaic round table, very
adorable. I am loving this, and to my further amazement, the salad I
order is the tastiest I've ever had!
Nothing back here matches, not table, not chairs, place settings,
nothing. And yet it works. It wouldn't work in my house but here it
does.
I could just sit here all night and drink coffee while I write. I will
come back soon to this hidden treasure, hopefully not to try to turn my
day around, but to just extend the joy of another morning.
Mission accomplished, I feel good again.
