Winter Morning on Wyvis
Blue gauzy winter
of small birds
simple black silhouettes
criss-cross electricity lines,
sweep up to pylons
on the snowy moor an far beyond.
The burn in spate,
random diamond
glitter swirl
ma reflections shatter
an rush down the hill,
a patchwork of
brown, black an
frosted green moss,
drippin icicles
hangin on to rock.
Here, we watch each other
me an a pair of ptarmigans
wind buffetin these
little puffs of melancholy
frostin the dash of
red on the beaks,
there, in the snow
somewhere above
an that seems
to be fine all round.
Don't light the fire just yet
let last night's embers cool,
we'll curl up soon enough
when the gloom is
late on the day.
