Success was something that didn't belong to me,
it was in other people's possession.
I could not borrow success,
nor buy it.
To me success spent its time,
eluding my every effort and attempt to grasp it.
Success was a word that wasn't defined in my dictionary,
a word that was alien to my nature.
A thing that teachers and coaches spoke of,
without ever relating it to me.
Success was an unobtainable goal,
a quest that I would never complete.
I was at the bottom, and the top was a long way up.
Even average seemed out of my reach.
Then it became clear,
Success, that was something I could achieve.
I have found out that,
"success is how high you bounce,
when you hit the bottom."
