A loving mother

It’s funny how since she passed away everyone has been sad but happy at the same time. Maybe not happy, as such, but content none the less.
Don’t get me wrong, everyone loved her…almost everyone loved her...but since she passed away everyone has felt lighter, open, freer.
There’s no external pressure to keep up expectations, air and graces, pleasantries.
Everyone just is who they are.
She was a kind woman in many ways. She loved her family...maybe a little too much…and would do anything for them but, she expected certain behaviour in return.
You are never free of debt in a family.
To her boys she was hero.
Brave, loving and fun.
To their partners she was not.
Manipulative, dishonest, competition.
We all see each other more now than before.
Now because we want to. Not because we have to.
Because we can see each other as we are. Not who we have to be.

sad but happy says everything
sad but happy says everything. I was sad but happy when my mum died. She had dementia.
