Mini Vacation
Sitting to close to the fireplace
At a friends house Friday night
Letting the warmth creep over me
My head nods left then right
Familiar voices fade away
As I loose myself to sleep
Dreaming that it's summer
On a white hot, sandy beach
The sun beats down upon us
There isn't any shade
The water keeps receding
As we run toward the waves
I'm getting really thirsty
My mouth feels full of sand
If I'm here much longer
I'll have a very crispy tan
I hear voices now much louder
And a tug on my left sleeve
Come on now wake up Daddy
It's time for us to leave
Visit finally over
We opened up the door
To a beautiful night
Of brilliant white
Lord, I'll never complain anymore
