The snow women of Ispwich

Lived during the last ice age
In an area they had no idea would one day have a football club called Ipswich town
They didn’t know about the blues from the Mississippi Delta
Or fast fibre broadband
They did know how to track eke in the snow
And keep warm in the depths of an unforgiving winter
They Knew the secret of fire
And the phases of the moon
Because of the land bridge they did nt live on an island and would wonder though England, France and Spain as if it was one vast country
With no passport control or or facial recognition scans
Ipswich was was only one of the places they called home
And home was anywhere you could make camp
All they left were footprints
Now long vanished
No that’s not quite true they left ancestors
From Inverness to the Caspian Sea
I am sure one of them is me
But I ve never been to Ipswich
