Them

They murdered a woman on the streets of America last week
Her blood stains the ground
Though she died behind the wheel of her car
They murdered a woman in the streets last week
People are angry
And rightly so
Masked armed thugs
Modern day stormtroopers shot her dead
For getting in the way
A minor infringement if that
They talk about patriotism
What is not more patriotic in the land of the free
Than the right to protest ?
To disagree
To dissent
To speak your mind
To stick two fingers up to Authority
Is that not how your nation was founded ?
“ give me liberty or give me death “
A revolution to create freedom
Rights of man that are self evident
You have forgotten your own words
And the world questions your national character
You forgive everything but dissent
This is not freedom

A very appropriate, and
A very appropriate, and balanced poem, given the circumstances. So many Americans still seem to be debating about the legal details, when as you say her only 'crime' was 'a minor infringement, if that'. His, and their crime was far greater! I like the way you have reminded us of their original revolution and the hypocrisy of those Trump supporters who may still regard themselves as patriots.
