Looked like taxi drivers
From Athens

Wending idly up hills
Outside Sarajevo, one
(The Rambo guy)
Looked at me, and

Churchill-like, gave
The V-sign
Then I learnt some
Days later, those

Fellas went
Siege-a-lifting
Leaving their
Wives and Children

At 'Heimat' or home
And more 'Orthodox'
Boys they met
And then cattle-like

Their throats were cut

Blood rituals
And corpses lying
In the river, distorted

Inhuman almost
The horror of
'Tradition', sheer
