A Spaceman came to gaze upon a rose.
“On our planet”, he sighed, “We’ve none of those.
We’ve robots, rocket ships, bombs that go boom
but nothing as beautiful as that bloom.
We did have once but threw it all away
and now our planet is not green but grey;
no flowers; no bird song and no blue skies”.
I saw a tear fall from the Spaceman’s eye.
“But I’d give up”, he said, “all our machines
to have back our old world of blue and green”.
I asked the spaceman from which world he came.
“Earth”, he said, “Planet Earth is its name”.
