Thought about the Beatles song "Taxman"-

I've always hated the song "Taxman" by the Beatles because it reveals that, inspite of all their efforts to portray themselves as working class heroes they were really class traitors.
The song portrays the Taxman as a kind of Bogeyman which he may well seem to be if you're a rich popstar who can get everything done privately but if your a person who benefits in someway from the state then he's a little closer to Santa Clause.
The truth that the song glibly ignores is that its either the taxman or the axeman; either you tax the rich or you cut their taxes by making swingeing cuts to health, education, policing, welfare, housing and other public services which is popular with rich people because when the axeman swings his axe only the poor get hit.
