Morgan the Moth

Morgan was a scarlett tiger moth who lived with his mummy at the
bottom of a large garden.
The humans who lived in the house were very kind and always left out
nuts and seeds for the birds to eat. And the flowers! They were so many
different types of flowers to see that Morgan could fly all day and
still not see them all.
One day Morgan was playing with his friend Beatrice the bee (who was
his very best friend in the whole world), when a very naughty moth
called Harold came flying up. Mogan didn't like Harold very much,
because he was always flying around where he shouldn't and getting into
trouble. As usual, Harold wanted to fly out of the garden and go
exploring in the nearby woods, which little moths weren't allowed to
do. Harold knew this, but still he was trying to get Morgan to go with
him.
"I really don't think you should this." Morgan said to Harold. "It's
very dangerous out there and you might get hurt."
But Harold didn't take any notice of Morgan.
"Rubbish!" he said. "I'll do what I like! You're just a big
scaredy-cat!" And he flew off out of the garden.
"How rude!" said Beatrice, who had been watching. "That Harold really
is a very naughty moth! Don't listen to him Morgan, I think you're very
brave!"
Morgan looked at Beatrice and thought how very lucky he was to have a
friend like her.
So Morgan and Beatrice carried on playing together in the garden and
having fun. Very soon it was time to go home for tea, so Morgan said
goodbye to Beatrice and flew off home. Very soon he was tucking into
his honey sandwitches and biscuits. He was enjoying them so much that
he forgot all about telling his mummy about Harold the naughty moth,
and he only remembered when Harolds mummy came around to look for
him.
"I really don't know what I'm going to do with that moth!" said Harolds
mummy. "He is just so naughty sometimes!"
Just then, Morgan remembered what Harold had told him.
"Ummm... I think I know where he might be" Morgan said quietly (he
didn't want to get into trouble with Harolds mummy).
"Well you must tell us then!" said Harolds mummy. "We won't be cross
with you!"
So Morgan told his mummy where Harold had gone, and Morgans mummy and
Harolds mummy decided to go and look for him. It was getting very dark
by now, so first of all they went to see Oliver the Owl, who lived in
an huge oak tree at the bottom of the garden.
Oliver was a very wise owl who knew everything, so Morgan went to stay
with Beatrice while Oliver, Harolds mummy, and Morgans mummy all went
to find Harold.
Morgan felt very glad that he hadn't gone off with Harold, as it was
very dark outside now and Morgan was a bit scared of the dark. Soon
they returned with a very upset and frightened Harold. He had got lost
in the woods, and had been flying round and round in circles for ages.
He was sad, cold and hungry and wanted to say sorry to Morgan.
"I'm sorry I called you a scaredy-cat Morgan" he said. "I got scared
too when it got dark. All I wanted to do was to see my mummy
again."
"That's alright" said Morgan. "I'm just glad you're safe now."
Oliver the Owl had been listening to everything.
"Well I hope you've learned your lesson young Harold." he said. "You
must never go off without telling your mummy where you are."
"I know that now." said Harold. "I won't ever do it again!"
So everyone sat down and had some cake.
