The room that he walked in was very quiet and crease of any such emotion other than sadness and fear, but he felt somewhat proud of being here, even through he heard a lot of sobbing and other signs of grieving. The judge sentenced him for a three month course of rehab. The plain walls , told a lot of the stories, so many to count but all not well important to be said. "Hello, Mr..." A young woman trailed off, now lost in la la land, absent of what's actually going on around her now. "Daniel." He spoke, his voice was very hoarse from not actually use it in a while. He received no reply, not even 'nice to meet you' There were about 9 chairs in the center of the room making a circle. One of the nine chairs were empty, his chair.
Daniel nodded his head at the comatose state woman, "Pleasure to meet you miss." He said, making his way to take a seat in the far end of the room. A smile reached his lips at the cheery tension in the room before a man dressed in a gray suit. He stood in the center of the circle, a huge smile pasted on his face.
"Alright, people. Now that we're all here, why don't we get this show on the road." He spoke rather friendly, nice in away. The room was then quiet except the snores and sobs from the two young women in the back. "My name is Happy, and I will be here to guide you off this happy path of paradise." He spoke once more and like always no one respond to him. Which was not entirely fine. "Alrighty then, then do you know that overall, the Household Survey found that 15.9 million Americans age 12 and older used an illicit drug in the month immediately prior to the survey interview. This represents an estimated 7.1 percent of the population in 2001, compared to an estimated 6.3 percent the previous year" Happy explained, before stopping in mid sentence. "Oh right, your suppose to say your names. Eh sorry about that." Happy said, not really sorry. People say their names all around the circle before Mr. Happy stopped them once more.
"oh I forgot please mention why are you here.". "My name is Daniel Smith and I was sentenced here by the judge because of an accident gone wrong, with my drug addiction." Daniel told everyone calmly, waiting for the smiles and hoots that surely to go his way. "Way to go, man. Next time keep quiet about it." Adam, hooted at Daniel. Happy rolled his eyes-"okay, okay settle down. Let get this finish so I could leave, early today for the Superbowl." Happy told them all.
"Alright, drug usage and is one of many reasons why many Americans are dying, and many reasons why a bunch of idiots are out there selling the awful thing for happy money." Happy turned to Daniel who was the closest one to him at the present moment. "Alright, Daniel. What happened." He stated, rather than a question. Daniel smiled brightly, and then coughed before telling his tell of why and how he was sentenced here. "Well basically my friend and I were smoking heroin alone and then the door busted down, and now here I am, in the happiest place of my life." Daniel cheerfully said, Mr. Happy looked at him with admiration, before a man in a tan shirt with blue jeans right beside of Daniel spoke. His voice was tight and stern. "What about your family?" He hissed, and Daniel blinked- "What about my family? They're happy. They're the ones who encouraged me." The answer that Daniel gave send the guy in a state of shock.
"What has the heroin done to your body so far?" He then asked, choosing his words wisely.
"Nothing, makes the pain go away and sends me to a place of happiness."
"Do you know that heroin slows down the brains ability to function properly. It slows down your thinking, your reactions and greatly affects the way one acts and makes decisions. Heroin use can lead to death by infectious diseases, tuberculosis, overdose and fetal deaths. It's also known to cause violence and crime against others. Do you really want to hurt the people around you because of this? Try to stop," The man gave a small speech, and before Mr. Happy could interrupt, angry the clock on the wall chimed. End of session one. "So what are you going to to do once your out of rehab, Daniel?" Mr. Happy asked. Another smile came on Daniel's face. "Heroin.".
