    The sun’s still shining –
Yet I am cold.
My mind is racing –
But I grow old.
The spirit’s willing
The flesh is weak.
The games are done now
The future’s bleak.
The Summer’s over
Life carries on.
Autumn’s upon us
Has all hope gone?
The trees are changing
Now clad in gold.
Tales in the making
As yet untold.
The sun still rises
Through misty air
We miss our loved ones
No longer there.
But children sing now
Their harvest songs –
It is to them now
The earth belongs.

It has been beautiful here too, Linda, and I've been hay-making all afternoon. At least the sun was shining;-)
A lovely poem, as fb says. Very much enjoyed.

Oooh, I do love your poems,
Oooh, I do love your poems, Linda.
I loved the subject matter, the form, the rhyming scheme and the last two lines of the final stanza summed it all up beautifully.

Really loved these lines, the imagery is very effective! A beautifully written piece that reads wonderfully on an Autumn day like today.
Thank you!
Steve.

  This was so beautiful Linda.
Autumn is my favourite time of the year.
It's almost coming up to that time, when
we remember our loved ones now sadly gone.
A time for reflection.
Lovely to read your poetry.
Jenny.
