LISTEN IN SILENCE

i am yearning for some sense

"I" stands for "ideas"
and what that is ? that is immense

"S" may stand for "student"
that is prudent, seems to me

"T' stands for "together"
wonder whether you agree

"E" means "education"
this vocation makes us whole

"N" stand for nutrition
this condition feeds the soul

those letters spell out "LISTEN"
if they're spilled and moved about
they also spell out "SILENT"
if they take another route

yes, your mind must remain silent
if you're truly to discern
do not be thinking what you'll say
when it becomes your turn

when it is time to speak your mind
and you have made your choice
you hope the one you're talking to
shuts down their inner voice

be silent and just listen
and exchange of thoughts will grow
rivers run more smoothly
when you don't dam up their flow
