Bursting With Love

Like a rainbow bursting out,

bending over this line in the poem

and sinking back into the words;

that’s how you make my heart swell.

Like a rushing waterfall,

pouring out and down this page,

making paper wet and words run

that’s how you make my love gush.

Like a little frog prince

leaping up out of this poem;

trying to kiss you but falling back inside.

That’s how you make my heart leap.

I wish that I could reach

out of this poem;

grab you round the waist;

pull you through its magic portal

to where I write

but all I have are words

to kiss you with.
