(On the 26th September a newspaper headline read: Man in hospital after cherry-picker accident)
between a bus and a cherry-picker.
It was an incident I could envision
and my heartbeat pulsated quicker.
was it one of ours by any chance?
I hope he hasn't come to any harm
and at my poems he'll look askance.
and found it was an hydraulic crane
which for a person I had mistook
and momentarily had addled my brain.
now that I'd learned the true meaning
and yet I could not shake off my belief
that my ignorance was demeaning.

Amusing, but is the crane
Amusing, but is the crane really a cherry-picker? such small things to be picked thus off a tree?! It reminded of some advert I've kept noticing while on mute that has what looks like the silhouette of a dinosaur picking a fruit (kiwi?) off a tree, but transforms showing that it is really the outline of a crane. Our cherry pickers are an unruly lot...that one should collapse on the top of a bus doesn't surprise me at all
Hope the poor person involved in this accident made a full recovery.
