Sorry guys another poem hope you like it. It's called Absent Father
What stands before me As I lift a tentative glance into a reflection of what I have become. My eyes, my nose and my fading hair, attributes of a man I did not know.
I am the man in the mirror made up of what is true to my heart, vacant and free of any fatherly guidance, you were not there to hold my hand or kiss me good night, only a ghost in my mind, floating in and out in an ever fading idea of what a father should be.
Oh how my back aches and yearns for that loving slap and hear those words, well done son of you I am so proud.
In this absence I fail to connect, a hero to look up to meets only a darkened room, resembling the feeling deep within. My identity I have only only come to half know taught by a maternal love, that wisest feminine nature defined led me to where I am today.
Yet past meets present and as I hold my son in my arms, I am thankful for the new teacher in my life, his love has helped me find the father in me and the one for him to see.
