Counting the rings

beyond the brick horizon
in waking dreams
the old coal-drop sea
i float back over
from winter's pricked pinpoint
the painted veins
on paper walls
rippling light
the leaflessness
their source
no near saplings now
bare-branched and creaking
they wave from the boardwalk
their sight a skimmed pebble
they wave from the boardwalk
bare-branched and creaking
no near saplings now
their source
the leaflessness
rippling light
on paper walls
the painted veins
from winter's pricked pinpoint
i float back over
the old coal-drop sea
in waking dreams
beyond the brick horizon

Judging by your poems
Judging by your poems and development as a writer from teenager to a mature poet you must have had a very interesting life Morwenna. Well, so far! If ever you want to write prose that could be very good material.
All the best! Tom
