Harebells

Shimmering dainty bells dangle from slender stems
tissue-blue, translucent, delicate,
'fairy-skirts' playing in the meadow
light and happy:
likened by Rossetti to trembling hope –
but trembling hope is living, strong
and so my fragile harebells too
have vigour and vitality surprising
