Transition

Though he was a centenarian
he knew he was not immortal,
so he was not at all surprised
to be waiting at heaven's portal.
Hopeful that Saint Peter would
quickly admit him to paradise
as he had been a model citizen
considerate, benevolent, wise.
The pearly gates' keeper was
very busy consulting a directory
because with so many entrants
could not rely only on memory.
The name given to the custodian
by the applicant was Beelzebub
but this particular individual had
been barred from joining the club.
In consequence, the Key holder
was sure he had no permission
to accede to the demon's demand
and refused to make the transition.

I have been away for some time and I am so glad I came back today to read this wonderful poem. I loved every stanza and the tale the poem told. You are still at the pinnacle of your powers Luigi.
