L - Giungla, a very short notion

Topo is out of place in the great South Peruvian Giungla
He has to be quick to escape predators
Sometimes he is not quick enough, but after he is eaten
he reappears
hiding in the sottobosco
watching the others with his big black twinkling occhios

Topo sees Bambino Toucan, so proud of his colourful beak
don a parrucchino, shamed by the other toucans
and flee into the pappagallos' treetops
There Bambino Toucan paints himself the same colours
as the other pappagallos, with berries and fruits
and learns to caw and chatter the same as they do
Oh Bambino, be proud of who you are
thinks Topo, do not try to be like they
who only mimic each other

Ah but Topo, be careful of yourself
For you may find
that pride endangers your life
Beware of your brilliant shrewdness
Beware of the farmer's wife
