I have a theory
A layman's theory
Of how it all works

Between either sex
How to know you have
The partner for the rest
Of your life

Firstly you have
An attraction bar
(This can be secondly

But I'm just saying
Firstly for argument's sake)

So you think someone is hot
Maybe that is it
You don't need a secondly
And that you learn to live

With each others
Foibles
Throughout the years

Or you have a secondly too
Here is my secondly:
You feel a deep connection
With this person

It is post attraction and it comes from
Spending time with them
In shared experience

Maybe a conversation
Or shared activity
Or both

You sense this extraordinary
Bond being formed

You sense it's mutuality
It's power
You know it is really
Fragile yet strong

This is the secondly

And I think
You need both for a good one

I'm guessing there is the thirdly
When the shit hits the fan
And it's hard work
Etc

But what a great thing if the
First two have been experienced by then!
