No Passing Parade
By Paul McCann
He was a good man they said
and just like that he was dead .
Into a coffin he went ,
then to his grave he was sent
A cold morning you could say
when the hearse took him away .
No one noticed him pass by,
Gone in the blink of an eye .
Funerals during COVID
It was like everyone had hid
Such a sad calamity ,
buried with no family .
Pandemically left alone ,
families had to stay home .
Nobody to gather there
With no final words to share .
By the graveside no one stood ,
except for the few who could ,
Restricted to four because
of the pandemic that was .
Pity for all those who died
Pity for those who all cried
Pity the man with a spade .
There was no passing parade .
