How easily I get irritated
and snap instead of chat.
How easily nations squabble
and angry thrust becomes
a tit-for-tat.

We can be glad of those who calm us down, and help us to understand and reach out towards someone who seems to be being awkward! And we can try to be peacemakers when others are hurt or irritated. And for nations, where there has been provocation and attack, to see that 'tit for tat' isn't going to progress things and - to want to be friends! Others again can stir things up, or be peacemakers. Hi Rhiannonw, sometimes its better to reflect than react. Reaction is usually instant but reflection takes time. Perhaps we all need time before we react. Nice little poem.

Thanks, yes. Thought before action, time to reflect. I remember someone talking to the children in chapel and saying something like 'apply clutch before brakes' to make the point. Lots in the Bible book of proverbs on the wisdom for the tongue and temper, like I mentioned in my Sunday piece this week!

There is a lot of talk of tolerance, but it can be very artificial, demanding no disagreement with a latest fad to which one can't agree, though one would want to explain that and not hate or fight! Rhiannon

Glad you have sunshine again, Nolan.

But I don't see the relevance of Shakespeae's quote to my little verse. It seems to be about meaningless, but I suppose it is about rage too. Proverbs 20:3 says 'It is to one’s honor to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel'. Easy to escalate anger and trouble, wise try to calm things down.
