Autumn thoughts
Autumn
Summer's end
Reds russets gold
Leaves
All now withering
Covering, grass and paths
Children playing and collecting conkers
Hearing
A shrill
"Mine's a sixer"
Must be autumn again
Ahead
Shorter days
Frost rain and snow
Turn on the central heating
Fireside
Sitting down
Pulling up a chair
Opening up a book
Hedgerows
Blackberry picking
Orange rose hips
Rowan berries, flame red
Colder
First frost
Lace patterned windows.
Car antifreeze, topped up.
Fields
Coloured boundaries
Green grass back again
Lambs now fully grown
Lamb chops walking on legs.
Almost ready for livestock market
Icy
Autumn ends
Going into winter
Children want deep snow
Burst pipes means no school
