Despair

A June election date draws near,
The countryside lives in terrible fear.
Farmers' livelihoods burning away,
To the polititians its just another day.
Foot and mouth has spread abroad,
A scenario we can ill afford.
Europe and America have banned our meat,
Customs officials demand disinfected feet.
Exclusion zones and smoke filled air
Farmers fields now bleak and bare.
Things are starting to get worse,
Its begun to hit the polititians purse.
Tony Blair and William Hague,
Both speak out but are equally vague.
Are we having a May election,
And does the countryside face rejection?
