Frogs In My Pond
There are frogs in my pond
Of which my mother is fond.
Periscope eyes and muscular thighs,
They're all massed together like bluebottle flies
Eagerely fulfilling their natural purpose,
There certainly seems an unusual surplice.
At least four or five wrestling each other
For the favour of one who's diving for cover.
Eventually though,she'll meet her match,
And out of the spawn tadpoles will hatch.
They'll be back once again in a couple of years
When icey ponds melt and the springtime appears.
