Lazy Summer Day
The hedgerows hum with tiny life.
This vertical village of the field
Offers home to many, countrywide.
The towering trees, majestically
Stretch their branches, leaf laden
Palms held open soaking up the rays.
Down in the dreamy meadow
Munching, musing, lazy chewing
a bovine factory worker prepares the evening yield.
As the heat shimmers over the pond
Reflections of frenetic life
Dart and dash above it's glaze.
The insect cycle nears its end
And lightening fast arrowed swifts
Swoop and dive to harvest food.
Down by the sparkling stream
Trout, tickled by the waving reeds
Seek shade from the summer haze.
