Flying

Flying
When I began to fly
I created a number of problems,
The least of which was falling.
Trying to convince the people who loved me
That I could soar above their heads
Proved difficult at best.
They would not believe a man like me
Would be ridiculous enough to try it.
Finding a soft place to land
Became an over whelming task,
Preventing me from watching
Where I flew.
I became aware of an interesting thought,
Something I neglected to interpret
As a change in the wind.
Coming down was twice as hard
When worry filled my heart,
I would have to trust my choices
When my wings were in the air.
I closed my eyes and ran as fast
As blood would let me flow.
Neglecting doubt I waited
For the surge of faith to lift me.
