ATLANTA
Streamers rippled across her as she entered the club
Trying to focus on the heaving bodies of strangers.
Her bare midriff sparkled with glitter and a jewel
As she weaved through the figures unnoticed.
A boy with a hopeless dream fell across her path ahead
But his naivety drew her to his hidden tortured soul.
Glowing bright, she's playing with the love she doesn't know is
there
Their happiness is transient for soon she will be gone.
She's dancing and entwining herself with random men and boys
While the first boy thinks he sees a pain-filled heart inside her
smile.
Wanting to save her from her actions and the world
He's worshipping the innocent he feels sure is trapped within.
Somewhere in him she's still dancing in abandonment
And looking sweet as the first time they met.
It doesn't matter where she goes or who she has become now,
She will always be caught in a photo on his wall.
