Your Case Has Been Referred to an External Agency for Further Processing

At Paddington Station he's lost in the crowd,
the tannoy repeats itself steady and loud:
“Take extra care as you cross the concourse"
With cameras for safety and officers' force.
He stands with his suitcase, his duffel coat torn,
a label that’s creased and a little forlorn:
Please look after this bear — but no one sees
This foreign visitor who's so ill at ease
He tries speaking softly, a Peruvian word,
but wishes he'd stayed quiet when suspicion is stirred.
A frown and a call made, the officers come,
they take him away from the travellers' thrum.
A holding cell first, then a budget hotel,
his marmalade stolen, his suitcase as well.
His papers are missing, his head gives a shake -
and labels like his look awfully fake.
So there in the limbo of endless delay,
our bear is left waiting day after day.
The tannoy still chants as if care were intended:
“Please do not leave your bags unattended”
What will become of him? Nobody knows.
The mould in the corner continues to grow.
The bed is stained and there's blood on the stairs -
It seems no one will come and look after this bear.
