So Margaretta has a babysitter coming for her child and secretly
Dresses up to go.
Carlos her husband has gone out again and left her alone

The black mantilla not so keen
she doesn’t want to look old
No! she wants to be the Queen.

Her face is so serene
Perfect make-up and a beauty spot on
hair piled into a chignon
the red strapped shoes she can hardly stand
As she enters the sparkling ballroom dance room
Sees her reflection in the mirror
Margaretta is the happiest she has
Ever been

She wants to practice before others arrive
The music comes on as the film maker has come in
And is ready to dance the flamenco
for the last time

This is her night for the devil’s fun
Her anger must come out!
She is posed with her arms in the air
Castanets in her hand clapping away
with her head held high

Her feet she stamps to the beat
Dah -dah –dah- de dah- dah -dum
Her red dress is flaring out
The rose in her mouth she twirls
to the left and then to the right
then stamps her feet extra hard

Margaretta is so angry for the day
she has had so out it must all come
good and bad

The music playing so fast at last her plan comes
her mind is spinning inside
One more gin and it and she will die
the flamenco dance slows down
and her breathing subsides
must get some air and get outside

But she ponders over to the door
which is ajar there’s a man dressed
In flamenco suit and a black hat
white shirt cowboy boots and a mask
on his face

The man he thinks can’t be Margaretta
In long Spanish red dress curling
to the floor with a slit up the side
she would never dress like that

As he is walking towards her
Margaretta in fear, grabs his arm
tight and throws
him on the floor
into a tackle as she
steps across him both legs straddled
but in his side pocket is silver pistol
he shouts “

“My love don’t do it please
I will treat you better!
to late Margaretta she fires 3 shots
but is amazed no blood comes out.

Margaretta is furious and runs back in
puts the flamenco music on again loud
but Carlos is actually taken
secret lessons so could be with her?

to think how stupid theyv’e been
the full moon as they looked up
was smiling at them
The stars were exploding and popping sounds.

Even the trees seemed to be whispering their names
leaves rustling in the breeze
and tawny owl crying tah wit a wooh
As they turned and kissed each other
And realised how lucky the real things
they have together
and will dance the flamenco now at home forever.
