Cheeks remain unturned in the Age of Lex Talonis:
one fool styles himself Florida’s blond Adonis,
others placate tyrants, tie themselves in knots
over what the great unwashed are thinking.
No wonder the great and good are sinking:
another child dies in a pointless slaughter.
Joseph’s youngest son courts the Devil’s daughter.
The virtual world stirs its ludicrous plots.
A drone sprays death as well as crops;
like the wing of a butterfly a world away
the "jihad"-im killed someone here today:
no-one is innocent, ‘til the finger-pointing stops.
Damn the politics of the Monopoly board
'“Vengeance is mine" sayeth the Lord.'
