It is Written

It is written.
Curlicued and sinuous, in ink and blood,
on parchment and vellum,
bound in bones and leathery skin.
It is written,
Hellenic or Latinate, in Thrace or Rome
by devout and holy,
cramped by bones and leathery skin.
It is written,
Demotic and heretic in Spain or France,
the saintly and sinners
burnt to bones from leathery skin.
It is written,
unlikely and lunatic, on plates of gold,
by Joseph or Hyrum,
found near bones and leathery skin.
It is written,
but not by gods.

The title caught my attention
The title caught my attention, thinking of that moment in Lawrence of Arabia. I loved the stretch of history in this, though I don't recognise all the names, plus the repetition through time. God and religion, not always the same thing. Liked it a lot.
