Sundays are made
of the modest dew
that drips from the leaves
of the dyer's broom.
When all is quiet
we seek the cause of
the worldly noise.
The books are piled,
the money is counted.
Our daily love is kept
in the flaccid bags
of the smooth gown.
God has promised today
to come by.
You wait as you wait
on someone with whom
you are going
to create a new world.
