Sketches of Love

Running through a thousand mazes of winter light,
I follow the sound of drifting snow
that carries your breath
as you hesitate in a microcosm of stars.
Candles alight when the wind carries your voice through ice-laden branches;
love melting frozen puddles of moonlight beneath your feet.
Finding you in a circle of woven nights that never end,
the air plays with drifts of stars that fall within your eyes,
and poems fall through your soul awakening my very breath.
I hesitate
to listen to you sigh
when the world sleeps
and dreams seem so far away;
wordless voices in the night;
smiles innocently carried by ribbons of snow to your soul
I follow your footprints,
the dream leading me to the edge of your world
where seashells conjure the sea,
and love sketches your face in a midnight cloud.
The wind sings your name,
and my love holds on to the spinning crystal of your voice.
I hold out my hands,
and capture the snowflakes that fall from the collar of your coat;
each one a poem completing yet another poem
completing your words before the thought begins.
You hold my heart in stillness
within an inkwell of midnight sky;
candles lighting a thousand mazes of winter stars.
Sentences fall through pinnacles of emotion
while love
sculpts a whisper that hesitates
in the silence of snowdrifts.
