Perserverance is a virtue we've had to adopt,
Rights in flux, they want us to stop,
Identities policed, challenged and questioned,
Doing what we can to be who we're destined,
Endeavouring to bring about a brighter tomorrow; for they who come next, those who will follow.
Movement started in desperate protest,
Over time, changed by serial request,
Never just a party or excuse to be loud,
Timeless reminder of times less than proud,
However it's celebrated, it remains to be; a remembrance of those who fought for me to be me.

Yes, exactly this. I was at
Yes, exactly this. I was at York Pride on Saturday. I've been going pretty much since it started, all those years ago, when it certainly wasn't the beautiful community day out it is now. It's a joy now to go with my daughter and her friends, and I always come over a bit misty-eyed when I remember very different times. Sadly, I also see clouds gathering again. As an ally, I am so glad that my daughter feels able to be herself and celebrate with pride.
Sorry to waffle! Thanks for posting this.
