I know what I like
but nothing about Art.
As for period furniture
I'm not all that smart.
I saw a classic chair
at an Antique Fair.
Liked it and bought it
right then and there.
It was advertised
as a Chippendale
and cheaply priced
for a quick sale.
The dealer was a guy,
the roguish Lovejoy,
faking the brand name
as a marketing ploy.
It wasn't the famous
craftsman that I admired
who had made the chair
I had recently acquired
but a slapdash duo,
called Chips and Dale,
who were known to build
worthless junk wholesale.
