His friends call him Willy and that is how he was introduced to me.
I believe that Will is a more dignified diminutive of William, which is how Uncle Jeremy formally addresses him, and that's the name I use.
Matt, uncle's friend at the MOD, informed him that Will and his team had landed at Brize Norton a few days ago and were waiting to be debriefed.
I was prepared for a long wait and was surprised when I heard the click of the door key while I was in the kitchen switching the kettle on for a cup of morning tea.
I had just come out of the shower and was drying my hair, skimpily dressed.
It was obvious he was pleased to see me, as he enveloped me in a warm embrace.
We were engaged in a lingering kiss when the kettle came to life with a shrill.
“Spoilsport!”, exclaimed Will and promptly switched it off.
Even after a long absence, he hasn't forgotten where my bedroom is and led me towards it. I willingly followed.
We don't live together but he has a spare key to my house. He knows that he's always welcome and accepts that I'm not yet ready for a permanent commitment.

We were both involved in Intelligence at one time and though my application to join failed, Will is still very much involved as his recent assignment proved. Because of this, we are bound by the Official Secrets Act.
Since his return, he has remained tight-lipped about what went on in Ukraine and I'm none the wiser about the actual situation other than what we are told through the media.
He has been able though to talk about a ghost from the past.
“Do you remember Gideon Mc Quoid?”
“How could I ever forget that creep who made my life a misery!”, I erupted, remembering far too vividly his obsessive stalking that ended, thanks to Will and Hilary Moneypound, with his banishment from the Service.
“You will recall that he was bamboozled by that Russian femme fatale Maruska Dementikova and defected with her to Moscow.”
“Well”, he continued, “it's not official but rumour has it that the Kremlin coerced him to participate in the invasion and that the ineffectiveness of the Russian troops was due to his incompetence.”
“I am fed up talking about that turncoat, let's change the subject.I would very much like to have your opinion on gumshoes.”

Gotta watch out for those
Gotta watch out for those Russian femme fatales... they end up offering novichok sandwiches. Enjoyed your chapter, young man. Entertaining with (dare I say it?) more than a hint of British humour.
