“You want to know my opinion about sneakers?”, said Will amused when I asked what he thought about gumshoes.”
“No, silly, private dicks”.
He burst out laughing. “No need to get personal”.
I saw that I had to spell it out. “What I am trying to find out is whether you would be averse to set up a detective agency in partnership with yours truly”.
“Do you mean that you want me to use my 'little grey cells' like Hercule Poirot? Or be a Sherlock Holmes to your Doctor Watson?”
“Yes. With your technical ability, and my administrative genius, we could make it work.”
“Knowing how meticulous you are, I assume that you have planned everything with extreme care and attention but how is this undertaking to be financed?”
“Don't worry. Uncle Jeremy...”
“I knew that, sooner or later, his name would crop up.”
“Don't fret, there is nothing sinister or underhand about that, Will. He has offered to bankroll the whole operation and accepts that he would only be a sleeping partner, leaving the running of the agency to us”.
“There are other factors like premises and office equipment to be considered”.
“Not a problem, there are a lot of unoccupied shops on the High Street that are waiting for new tenants and can be had at low rents “.
Given these assurances, Will seemed to be warming to the idea and when I told him that my uncle had already thought of a job that could be tackled by him, his interest increased.

“William, dear boy, welcome onboard”, Uncle Jeremy began then went on to elaborate on the assignment he wished Will to carry out.
“I suspect that a hacker is trying to get hold of one of my passwords in order to corrupt my computer's system. He hasn't succeeded yet but I keep getting warning messages that an unauthorised user wants to modify a .exe file.”
“I'll have a look at your computer configuration, Jeremy, but I suggest that you change your passwords right away and get a new email address”.
“I knew I could rely on you,” said uncle smiling like a Cheshire cat
I had seen that smile before and knew that the old fox was putting Will to the test, to see how capable he really was.
Well, I suppose he wanted to see that his investment in our venture was in safe hands.

something new
Trying your hand at something new Luigi? You should be very good at prose, the proof is in the pudding. This one is very entertaining like the petshop boys, “I've got the brain, you've got the brawn let's make lots of money!” Or other way round?
