December tastes of waiting
Of anticipating the glow
When resting joys resurface
For festive roundello
The tree stands decked in borrowed light
Resplendent once again
Each sparkle born of memories
Each image harlequin
Then all too soon the burnish fades
The coziness unwinds
The taste of waiting Winter
Dims lustre from our minds
We pack our dreams in cotton wool
And put them somewhere warm
Where time looks on them gently
And shelters them from storm
We taste the winds of in between
And live our lives placating
For all too soon we find ourselves
In the the month that tastes of waiting
