We all heard here in England that a lot of snow was coming, most of us didn’t think it would come. Each year, it is the same thing, that lots of snow will fall, and it never does. We might get a dusting of snow, then the next day it is all gone. I remember when I was young, we had lots of snow for months and weeks, and we all had to walk to and from school in it. School never closed!
Last night I nodded off on the sofa, like I do most evenings when I am at home, it was only for an hour, and when I woke up, it had snowed, a lot! It saddened me, as both our kids were at work, and had yet to come home.
They both later came home safe.
The one who drives, is at work today, we advised, “Please don’t drive to work today, go by bus or taxi.” It was their first time, driving in the snow, and we were very nervous. Early this morning, I wished our child, “A safe journey.” One minute later I got a phone call, “It is really bad out here, I need to come back home.”
Back at home, they joined the large work group. On the huge work group, they were all informed, “David, his wife is Maxine she works here, he is retired, and he has a 4x4 car, he has said, he will pick up people and take them to work and tonight bring them back home, for free, just let us know who needs this.” My child went on the group chat, to let them know their plight.
Within five minutes David had arrived at our home in his big lovely car. It was a surreal moment for me.
It remined me, there are some Very kind and Selfless, people still in our World.
It is a shame, that for such a HUGE, and very well known company, that on this special day, when people were in dire need at the Work place, and David did this, that they have not paid him for his petrol! For I am guessing, he has easily done over 100 miles!
God Bless him, and his lovely wife Maxine, and all the others who have done big and small things on this very snowy day. x
