Flight From Death
Just like Biggles he wanted to be,
Like a bird up in the sky, flying free.
He took in some training and soon became
A high flying pilot of Biggles fame;
In the air force he quickly made some friends,
Wars are stories with beginnings and ends.
Camaraderie is the narration that guides,
While the spirit of all for one abides.
Part of a plan in the Second World War,
D Day had come in 1944.
Over a lake the Liberators flew,
Suddenly Migs appeared out of the blue,
They were too fast and one by one they fell,,
One survived and it’s his story I'll tell,
Of a pilot they pulled into a boat,
From all the wreckage that was still afloat.
Barely alive they revived him not once
But twice, he lay recovering for months.
Indian doctors saved this pilots life,
He returned from the war and found a wife.
His war is over though some friends have left;
How lucky he was to escape from death.
