Fragile Is The Night
By Paul McCann
Paper thin walls ,
I can hear it all ,
the noisy footsteps walking up the hall ,
in the middle of the night , someone screaming out ,
you know it’s not right ,
Fragile Is the night so handle it with care ,
wishing for sleep to come
until the morning shelters me
behind the echoes of this daily nightmare
Under one roof we speak the truth
between old men and the youth ,
like a family true and tight and we make it through the fragile night
Fragile is the night that welcomes the morning light ,
we do what we have to
in taking what we need to do to make it right .
Old men pay bills and young men get thrills,
in the end they inherit the wills of those
who have gone to their peaceful rest in the great beyond
Fragile is the night that welcomes the morning light ,
we come through and do what we have to
in waking up from sleeping tight .
