Waiting for the night bus at Regent street on Friday

it must have been around half past seven ,

this girl crossed over the road and looked in my direction

and said excuse me have you heard of heaven .

Have you heard heaven’s a place ,

have you heard its for all the human race

and have you heard that God above

has promised us all his love

and it will last for an eternity.

The passers by kept passing by

and her golden hair fell around her

in straggles on her anorak that night ,

I said yes I’ve heard of heaven

it’s a place called paradise

and we’ll all go there when the time is right.

Have you heard heaven’s a place ,

have you heard its for all the human race

and have you heard that God above

has promised us all his love

and it will last for an eternity.

Her eyes they fell upon me

and I looked up at the moon above

and said are you going there to heaven someday ,

she smiled and said of course my love

and then she said goodnight Guv

and with that she turned her back and walked away .
