Grandpa
By Paul McCann
Hey Grandpa I don’t know your name
and as I look at you I feel so ashamed ,
sitting all alone and helpless there
with the homeless crew in a cold shelter.
I wonder where your all family are ,
you must have someone near or far who can care for you ,
hey Grandpa I feel so sorry for you .
Hey Grandpa it’s really hard to know ,
why all you’ve got is a radio
and a corner chair in the Sally Ann’s ,
where nobody really understands ,
where you’ve been and what you been through ,
Hey Grandpa lifes been hard on you ..
Grandpa I feel so sorry for you
Hey Grandpa I’m sure you did your best ,
working hard without any rest ,
for those you loved who didn’t care
that you’ve got no home and you’re going nowhere
all the wars you been through ,
the sacrifices you’ve given too ,
here must be something they can do .
Grandpa I feel so sorry for you .
