It Always Seems To Me

It always seems to me
that I look back on the past
the head says let it go
and the heart is beating fast .
I’ve got to live for today
and dream of what could be
for yesterday is gone
and is just a memory
like a child in a cradle by the window of time
trusting completely in hands so divine .
It always seems to me times
in motion like a clock ,
so rock me back to you , my hearts going tick-tock .
It always seems to me
that I fall in love too fast ,
the head says to the heart
how long can it last
but the heart says I won’t harden
no matter what you say
And the thief of the heart
always runs away .
So leave my heart to love
and chase the thief away
and I’ll love and I will laugh
like an innocent child at play .

It always seems to me
there’s a thief of the heart
waiting for the moment to break us apart .

It always seems to me
if it matters it will last ,
so rock me ever gently
as the years go past ,
the head says far too much ,
the heart knows not to ask ,
when it comes down to love
it should never be a task .
Love is a precious gift
that is known to be true
and its shared in a lifetime between and you .
It always seems to me
that time is going fast .
So if you fall in love
you’ve got to make it last .
