The King Of France

By Paul McCann

Now the King of France was thick of neck,
too thick to rope a noose
So the deputy of Paris set his inspiration loose
Dr Joseph built a guillotine
Mind your head he said .
King Louis looked up at the blade
and knew he'd soon be dead.
The King of France stood before the crowd.
He took a deep breath
Then he spoke,
"I forgive those who are guilty of my death.
They were such a blood thirsty crowd .
They called for the Kings head.
The King of France was thick of neck,
as down the sharp blade sped
the Kings head was unsevered
and a second stroke was laid.
The crowd were thrilled when finally
they got King Louis head.
